Overview
Completely remodeled for 1997, the Jeep Wrangler returns for 1998 with minimal changes to the interior and exterior. New options for this year include automatic speed control and a Smart Key Immobilizer theft deterrent system that prevents the engine from running without a valid ignition key. Both driver and passenger airbags are also depowered. Power steering is now standard on all models and two new exterior colors, Chili Pepper Red and Deep Amethyst, are available. There are three models included in the Wrangler line-up, the SE, Sport and Sahara. For off-road purposes, the Wrangler includes the Quadra-Coil suspension system as well as removable carpet, slotted map holders, water resistant fabrics and drainage holes in the floor.
