Overview
The 1997 Corolla sedans are now 100% assembled in North America. The sedans are being built in Fremont, California and in Cambridge, Ontario. Added to the Corolla lineup is the CE sedan, Classic Edition, with many upgraded standard features. No longer available is the DX wagon, luggage rack and cellular phone accesories. Only available on the DX sedan is the optional automatic four speed transmission with overdrive. This transmission has an on/off switch for the fourth gear which helps give the driver more power in upgrades or when towing. Two new exterior colors have been added which are Misty Plum Metallic and Bright Ivory Pearl. The Corolla and it+s sister car the Geo Prizm are scheduled for redesign in the model year 1998.
