Overview
For 1997, the Land Cruiser receives only a minor revision in options as black paint becomes a regular production color and is available at no extra charge. The standard four-speed automatic transmission comes equipped with an integrated second-gear start feature for use on soft or slippery surfaces. In addition, it is the only mass-produced vehicle to offer optional locking front, center and rear differentials for true four-wheel drive traction. Additional options include radio upgrade with CD player, rear third seat, power moonroof, aluminum wheels and leather interior. The Land Cruiser was first sold in the U.S. in 1957, making it the longest selling vehicle in the Toyota lineup. A similar vehicle to the Land Cruiser is the Lexus LX 450.
