Overview
Virtually unchanged for 1997, the Protege receives revised styling to the front grille, headlights and front bumpers and fenders. The LX gets P185/65R14 tires as standard equipment. Standard safety features include child safety locks, rear defroster, halogen headlights and side-impact door beams. The LX upgrades the DX with cruise control, remote trunk release and power mirrors, windows and door locks. The ES includes CFC-free air conditioning, four-wheel disc brakes and velour sport bucket seats. Floor mats and automatic transmission are optional on all models. Available dealer installed accessories include car cover, keyless remote entry system, rear mounted bicycle rack, rear spoiler, front and rear mud guards and compact disc player or changer.
