Overview
For 1997, the Explorer 2WD is offered in five trim levels - XL, Sport, XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited. The Explorer has been the best selling Sport Utility for the past five years. Standard on the Eddie Bauer and Limited, the 4.0L SOHC 205 horsepower engine is optional on all other models. A 5.0L 210 horsepower V-8 is available on the XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited. 100,000 mile tune-up intervals are now standard with all engines. Each vehicle offers a trailer towing package with limited slip differential. A Ford/JBL AM/FM Stereo, cassette with rear controls is available on most models.
