Overview
The 1997 Wrangler is available in three models - SE 4WD, Sport 4WD and Sahara 4WD. New for 1997, the Wrangler has a redesigned exterior and interior, upgraded suspension and engine. The Wrangler was not available for the 1996 model year due to a full model redesign. The Wrangler retains its classic wash out capability with water proof interior components. The new soft top now folds rear ward, much like the convertible for easier operation. The new hard top is fifteen pounds lighter and is available as an option to all models. The new Quadra-Coil suspension has replaced the conventional leaf-spring suspension set-up. The 19-gallon fuel tank capacity is optional on SE and Sport models, standard on Sahara model.
