Kickin' Tires?

IntelliChoice's mission is to help you "Chose Your Car Wisely." This much has been confirmed, as we have all the necessary Cost of Ownership data you need on almost every car, truck, SUV/crossover and minivan in the business. But what happens when we have helped you make the right decision...and now you have to face the dealer to buy or lease that smart vehicle?

I was reminded of just how frightening the car buying process is to most people when I was a guest of host Bob Long on Motor Trend Radio a few days ago. Bob likes to ask me about the latest industry trends and news and discuss the importance of buying 'smart,' but this particular episode was crazy. He opened the phone lines to callers with particular car buying questions, and the sense of concern and confusion in the tone of the questions was shocking. We ended up with not enough time to take all the calls. Something is wrong in this game.

It isn't that the average buyer feels incapable of making the right choice. In fact, thanks to the advent of third-party research sites like the one you are reading now, never before have buyers felt more educated and empowered. But there is an overwhelming sense that despite their best intentions, the salesperson and dealer are going to get the best of the buyer and they will end up regretting the purchase they were originally so proud of. It's not necessarily because they chose the wrong vehicle, but rather because they will have signed a purchase contract that has not been written with their best interests in mind. And this is where we can help.

Over the next two weeks I will use this forum to answer the most common questions, misconceptions, and fears that many buyers face when facing an impending vehicle purchase. My answers may seem overly simplistic, but this just highlights how irrational the buying process has become--it has truly become "us vs. them." There are no magic potions to make it all better, but with a few solid concepts in place, a buyer can feel as confident about the purchase process as they do after researching their new vehicle on www.intellichoice.com.

As always, please feel free to send any particular questions or issues to info1@intellichoice.com and I will do my best to make sure all are addressed. Buying a vehicle is way too important...take all the ammunition you can get!
