2006 Lexus IS 350 Auto Show Photo

Lexus continues to reveal its aggressive, BMW 3 Series-fighting IS line with the NY unveiling of the range-topping IS 350. Following on the heels of the Geneva debut for a Europe-only diesel edition, the IS 350 reveals the true potential for this range. Based on the GS sedan platform, the rear-drive IS 350 produces more than 300 horsepower from the all-new 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Performance claims put the IS 350 running 0-60 mph in under six seconds. The IS 250 will feature a 2.5L V-6 with more than 200 hp, offered in rear- and all-wheel drive, with choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmission. All IS models will feature a generous roster of luxury acoutrements and safety features, including eight standard airbags, MP3/wma audio input, and Smart Access. Options will include such premium items as laser-based cruise control, bi-Xenon adaptive headlamps, heated/ventilated seats, and rear-backup camera. Only commitment on the pricing front is that the IS 250 will start at about the same as the current IS sedan. Look for these new models to reach dealers in the fall.
