2007 Ferrari F430 Challenge Auto Show Photo

Engineered for competition, and built for well-heeled clients, the F430 Challenge elevates the precise F430 road-machine to track readiness. Although it uses the same 490-hp engine, it incorporates significant upgrades, including those not seen in the series with the current 360 Challenge. Drawing from its winning F1 experience, Ferrari has outfitted this new model with a braking system that employs a carbon-ceramic material - a first for a Ferrari production car. It also uses a six-speed electronic gearbox that operates just as in the grand prix car. Significant weight savings add to the performance, thanks to a Lexan windshield, all-carbon-fiber intake plenum cover, and a tailored exhaust system. The electronic differential has been replaced with a mechanical one, and both stability and traction control have been disengaged. There is a race setting for the gearbox and engine management system to adapt the car for its bred purpose. The F430 enters competition for 2006, and it will replace the 360 Challenge fully for 2007.
