2007 Cadillac BLS Auto Show Photo

As part of Cadillac's renewed push to make the brand into one with international reach, the BLS near-lux sedan makes its production debut, following the concept's unveiling in Geneva. Smaller than Cadillac's current entry-level car, the rear-drive CTS, the BLS will initially be sold only in Europe, though it is reported to be under consideration for the U.S. market. The front-drive BLS will be available with a choice of turbocharged, small-displacement gasoline and diesel engines, ranging from 150-255 hp. (Trivia: This will be the first diesel-powered Cadillac since the early 1980s.) Four transmissions will be offered, with five- and six-speed manuals and automatics. The BLS will sport luxury features such as Bose surround sound and Bluetooth connectivity. On sale in Spring 2006, Cadillac estimates sales of 10,000 annually once production is in full swing. The car will be built at Saab's Trollhattan, Sweden assembly plant, alongside the Saab 9-3.
