2007 Lexus ES 350 Auto Show Photo

2007 Lexus ES 350

While most Lexus cars are rear-drive now, the Camry-based, front-drive ES remains its bread-and-butter model. For ’07, the fishy grille of the last model is gone, and Lexus claims it’s faster, more powerful and quieter than the standard-setting 1989 LS 400 flagship. Features are a new 272-horsepower, 254 pound-foot 3.5-liter V-6, coupled to a six-speed automatic electronically controlled transmission. Base price of the 2007 Lexus ES 350 will be close to the current car’s $32,000, but it will be available with a plethora of options that will step up loaded models closer to the $50,000 mark. Some of the high-tech/high-lux optional features are a panoramic glass sunroof (a conventional sunroof is standard), graphite finish 17-inch wheels (alloys standard), adaptive cruise control with a pre-collision system and a Mark Levinson sound system. Standard features include high- and low beams that swivel around turns and choice of cashmere, light gray, or black leather seats (perforated leather comes with the optional ventilated seats) in a very expensive-looking interior. The ES 350’s 3.5-liter V-6 has new dual-variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which helps retain the ES 330’s EPA numbers (21/30 mpg), while improving performance. It’s on sale by April.
