2007 Hyundai Accent Auto Show Photo

Hyundai let it be known it’s not about to cede the bottom of the auto sales ladder to newcomers like the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris. Its third-generation Accent’s new twin cam, continuously variable valve timing 1.6-liter four has one horsepower on the Fit and four on the Yaris, for one thing. (Torque for the Hyundai is 106 pound-feet at 6000 rpm.) The three-door 2007 Hyundai Accent is down two doors on those two competitor hatchbacks, though – you have to get the conventional sedan to get four doors, but it boasts more interior space than a Civic or Corolla. The three-door GS and SE models have a higher seating position than the second-generation models they replace, and Hyundai says the car is the only one in its class to offer 16-inch wheels. Side-curtain airbags also are standard.
