2007 Dodge Nitro R/T Auto Show Photo

Dodge’s compact SUV, built on the Jeep Liberty chassis, will come with two engines, a 4.0-liter/255-horsepower SOHC V-6 in the R/T, rated 275 pound-feet of torque, and the familiar 3.7-liter SOHC V-6, rated 210 horsepower and 235 pound-feet. Unfortunately, a six-speed manual is available only with the 3.7. The 4.0 comes with a five-speed automatic, standard. Dodge also boasts part-time or full-time all-wheel-drive and a 5,000-pound towing rating on the 2007 Dodge Nitro R/T, with fold-flat front passenger and second-row seats and load-and-go platform that lifts out of the luggage section to make loading/unloading heavy objects easy. It’s on sale late this year.
