SEAT Altea FR Auto Show Photo

Whereas its Czech Republic bigger cousin, the Octavia RS, relies on paint, trim, and stance to announce its presence with authority, the prototype SEAT Altea FR screams out FR on both sides in big letters, as well as inside with embroidery on the seats. There is no immediate indication of what FR stands for, but clearly it makes a statement. As presented, the FR enhances the Altea with silver color-coded bodywork, the only exception being a black roof and a few accents. Bodywork wise, the front end is revised with a larger grille for improved engine, brake, and passenger cooling. Around back, there is a revised rear bumper, FR badging, and twin exhausts. The twin exhausts are called upon to evacuate gasses from the FR's 2.0-liter TDI engine, the most powerful diesel in the company's history. SEAT will begin selling the FR beginning early in 2006.
