Renault Egeus Auto Show Photo

French automaker Renault has created the Egeus as its mechanical embodiment of a high-end luxury SUV. The Egeus follows up the firm's Wind and Fluence concept cars, and is described as being an SUV for city driving and the open road, a sort of tall coupe. In its quest to build the anti-SUV SUV, Renault has created a design that is compact and flowing, with a long hood and short overhangs. The tight proportions are important when off-roading to provide steep, terrain-traversing approach angles, but in this case it's a design statement: You won't be crawling over rocks with this thing. Inside the cabin, the passenger space is limited to four independent seats covered in beige leather, and a blue-tinted dashboard said to evoke an underwater world -- a place you hope not to explore in a sport/ute. So this is an SUV, but not an SUV, a coupe for the street, but with an aquatic interior. The French are so complex...
