Opel Antara GTC Auto Show Photo

Opel surprised visitors with its strong adventurous side when it premiered the Antara GTC (Gran Turismo Crossover) SUV concept, combining a variety of dynamic design features to produce a concept meant to convey “adventure” even when standing still. Underhood, the Antara GTC features a 212-horsepower twin-turbo 1.9L common rail diesel four-cylinder Ecotec engine that promises to move the SUV to a top speed of 130 mph and 0-62-mph acceleration around 8 seconds (using computer simulations). Sophisticated design touches abound, from its elegant V-shaped radiator grill of brushed aluminum, to its panoramic Mohican-styled twin skylights, to its practical pantographic hinged tailgate, which swings upwards and to the front so the person loading the vehicle doesn’t have to step backwards. Inside, front seats are anchored on mono-rails so they appear to float and rear seats can fold flat for generous storage; color schemes of dark brown and beige combine with sisal flooring for a stylish yet practical interior treatment.
