Daihatsu Copen ZZ Auto Show Photo

We've seen the Copen concepts, the production models, and now again, a new concept. An adorable, retro-flavored convertible, the Copen makes us smile at each showing. This time, the Copen has been sheathed in slightly larger bodywork that preserves the distinctive teardrop shape, and then fitted with a higher-performance, naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine. The upgrades continue with a suspension tuned for greater handling. Daihatsu claims the ZZ name represents the unknown, but in looking at this mild update to the brand's most personable car, it seems a forgone conclusion that this mildly upfitted convertible will roll into production. Next time, we hope to see a more aggressive effort made, with an eye on countering the MazdaSpeed MX-5.
