Citroen C-SportLounge Auto Show Photo

Arbiters of sophisticated taste, the French have cooked up another gourmet dish that is a bit rich for our crude Yankee tastes, the C-SportLounge (not to be confused with the C-SpotRun). Designed to be a fresh interpretation of the grand touring car, the C-SportLounge is a crossover that leans closest to its wagon roots. Looking like an angry catfish, the C-SportLounge has an ultra-low .26 coefficient of drag thanks to much more than a slippery exterior surface. This Citroen cheats the wind and manages lift by using flow-through air ducts on the front bumper, a roof-affixed electro-mechanical system that creates a virtual airfoil, a smooth subframe, and a reverse mobile airfoil under the car's tail. Open the wide, suicide-style doors and it's clear that the space-age interior makes good use of the chevrons in the company logo, with angled, parallel lines ribbing many surfaces. The bucket seats are deep enough to hold an astronaut in place during takeoffs, and the artfully rendered gauge cluster seems more appropriate for a space ship. Citroen has said that a range of powerplants could motivate the C-SportLounge, suggesting either some semblance of production consideration, or indecision.
