2006 BMW 3 Series Auto Show Photo

The first two versions of the new BMW 3 Series to go on sale in the U.S. will be the 325i and 330i sedans, with pricing to begin at $30,995 and $36,995 respectively. Despite the badges, each is powered by a 3.0-liter version of BMW's all-new lightweight N52 inline-six-cylinder engine. The difference is the version in the 325i delivers 215 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, while the 330i version has 255 hp and 220 lb-ft, thanks to a new three-stage variable induction system and remapped engine management computer. The new 3 Series, codenamed E90, is bigger outside and roomier inside than the current model, but still sporty to drive. The good news is both iDrive and the Active Steering will be optional across the range. Look for them to begin appearing in dealerships in May.
