Italdesign Mitsubishi Nessie Auto Show Photo

Italy's great design houses often select Geneva as ideal the place to unveil a concept car. Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro's Italdesign does so each year, and has based this year's dream machine around a small SUV platform, in collaboration with Mitsubishi. The Nessie is one part sports coupe and one part sport/utility. Note the glass panels in the passenger doors - a cool touch, but we bet they won't pass any sort of side impact crash test. The windshield glass extends all the way back across the roof, upon which rests a skeletal frame, both for protection, and as a styling touch. Another partner in the project is liquid chemical producer Linde, so power would theoretically come from a hydrogen fueled V-8 engine. The Nessie is strictly a concept at this stage, but Italdesign hopes that either Mitsu, or another carmaker, will purchase rights to the design.
