Lamborghini Concept S Auto Show Photo

Lambo calls this split-cabin Gallardo design study an extreme interpretation of an open car. Penned by Lambo design chief Luc Donckerwolke, the Concept S features two low, cut-down windscreens. The space between the two seats acts as an additional air inlet for the mid-ship engine, and the driver can electronically control a central rearview mirror. The powertrain remains the Gallardo's current 500-horsepower V-10. The dual cockpit design, exciting though it is, will not likely appear on the open-air production version of the Gallardo when that car breaks cover some time in 2006. A more conventional windscreen will also be a production reality, as this design would not be legal for road use. Still, the Concept S represents a tantalizing what if? statement for Lamborghini, and demonstrates that this emotive Italian carmaker is really thinking.
