2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Auto Show Photo

It's not the surprise of the show, but it's certainly the star of Geneva '05. Little changed from the AM V8 concept unveiled at the 2003 Detroit Show, the gorgeous V8 Vantage was besieged by onlookers anxious for a glimpse of the production version of Aston's Porsche 911 fighter. The V8 Vantage is due to go on sale in the U.S. late this year with a price tag of about $110,000 to $115,000, but if you haven't already placed an order you're too late - the first two years worth of production are already sold out. Built on the same VH platform as the shapely Aston Martin DB9, the V8 Vantage is shorter, more compact, and more than 660-lbs lighter. It's powered by a 4.3-liter V-8 developed from the highly successful Jaguar engine, and it comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. With 380 horsepower under the hood, the V8 Vantage will storm to 60 mph in under five second, and it has a top speed of more than 175 mph.
