Alfa Romeo Brera Auto Show Photo

Also based on Alfa Romeo's new premium platform, the Brera is a 2+2 coupe that borrows design elements - and its name - from the stunning rear-drive V-8 concept car designed by Giorgietto Giugiaro in 2001. The Brera shares its suspension and powertrain with Alfa's new 159, including the 3.2-liter/260-hp V-6, plus available all-wheel drive and Ferrari-style paddleshift six-speed manual transmission. A five-cylinder diesel with twin camshafts and 200 hp will also be available, and a two-seat convertible version will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Show in September. A U.S. re-entry for Alfa is becoming a priority, according to sources close to new Alfa division boss Karl-Heinz Kalbfell. The recent reorganization of Fiat means Alfa Romeo has now been aligned with Maserati (which has been separated from Ferrari) and will share some components and distribution facilities.
