The Toyota 4Runner returns for 2013 with little change. It remains available in three trims: SR5, Trail, and Limited. Updates this year are limited to the addition of a switch-type control for the transfer case on the SR5 trim, replacing the lever. It is powered by a 4.0L V6 engine producing 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The use of variable valve timing technology and a five-speed ECT-i automatic transmission improves fuel efficiency. Trail models feature distinctive dark smoke treatments on the headlights and tail lamps, and come equipped more appropriately for off-road performance. The Limited and SR5 trims add exterior chrome treatments, front bumper moldings and fender flares for an aggressive appearance.
