The 2012 Toyota RAV4 returns with no major changes still offered in three trims: Base, Sport, and Limited in either 2WD or 4WD configurations (an EV model will follow much later in the model year). Vehicles now feature a standard new audio system featuring Entune. The new system offers such technology enhancements as hands-free connectivity, phone book access, streaming music via Bluetooth , and HD/Satellite Radio (requires monthly fee). The Limited grades will also come with navigation functionality. Engine choices include a more fuel-efficient 2.5L I-4 or the 269-hp 3.5L V6. For those needing more seating capacity, RAV4 and Limited models also make available the option of a third row seat. Featuring a lower output version of the motor found in the new Tesla Model S, the RAV4 EV, according to Motor Trend, can easily pass the 100 mile range with the 10-kW charger needing about 6 hours to charge, as the battery is larger than in the base Model S.
