2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Advanced 4Dr Hatchback

Another new addition to the expanding Prius line-up is the 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid. The vehicle is offered in two models, Base and Advanced. Prius Plug-in features both the normal hybrid capabilities as well as a selectable EV mode which provides about 87 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) in combined driving, or 49 MPG in hybrid mode alone. The EV range performance is an estimated 15 miles at up to 62 miles per hour. The Plug-in model, recently follows the introduction of the larger Prius v, and will be followed by the smaller Prius c next year. The vehicle features a brand new lithium-ion battery pack, effectively replacing the one currently used on the standard Prius. A full charge can be achieved in about 2.5-3.0 hours with a standard household 120v outlet via an external charging cable which connects at the right rear fender.
