The 2012 GMC Canyon is available in regular cab, extended cab and crew cab bodystyles and a choice of Base (Work Truck), SLE or SLT trims (SLT trim levels are now on Crew Cab 4WD models only). Minor updates in equipment changes and packaging are the only changes this year. An SLE-2 level is now offered on Crew Cabs. SLE trims have a four-speed automatic as standard. Models equipped with four-wheel drive feature an automatic locking rear differential. The GMC Canyon is a sister vehicle to the Chevrolet Colorado. The Canyon has been rumored to be on the chopping block for a couple of years, with a new replacement model arriving in 2013 or 2014.
