For the 2012 model year the Volkswagen Tiguan has been freshened with updated front end and rear end styling. Offered in S, SE, and SEL trim levels (a new LE trim is also offered this year), Tiguan's are offered with either manual or automatic transmission and front wheel or 4MOTION all wheel drive. Standard on all Tiguan models is a turbocharged 200hp engine which sees a slight improvement in fuel efficiency this year. Newly available this year are optional 19-inch R GmbH-developed alloy wheels (standard on SEL models), as wel as Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. The new design elements are very similar to the Tiguan's larger sibling the Touareg including the new grille, badging, and headlights.
