The 2012 Toyota Tacoma is available in three bodystyles and four trims: Regular Cab, Access Cab and Double Cab in Base or PRERUNNER trim and Access Cab X-Runner. Updates for this model year include refreshed front-end design, an updated interior, two new available audio systems, and new heavy-duty all-weather flooring has been added as an option. Engine choices remain a 159 horsepower 2.7L four-cylinder engine and a 4.0L V6 engine producing 236 horsepower. Standard features on all models include air conditioning, a full-size spare tire, AM/FM CD four-speaker sound system, tachometer, and rear mudguards. Safety features include the Star Safety System, side and head curtain air bags, and active front headrest on all Access and Double Cabs. The Toyota Star Safety System includes the anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, and Traction Control.
