Another entrant into the growing EV city car segment is the all-new Mitsubishi I, or MiEV. Offered in ES and SE trim levels, the MiEV features a rear wheel drive system, AC synchronous motor, and single fixed gear transmission. The vehicle has a targeted driving range of 85 miles/charge with a top speed of about 80 mph. It features three settings: "D" offers maximum performance with 100% torque from direct accelerator input; "Eco" reduces battery consumption to maximize energy usage; and "B" increases the regenerative braking functionality with the "D" level torque response. The MiEV features three possible charging methods: the standard Level 1 120V portable cable, a Level 2 home EVSE charging system, or Level 3 public quick charge station (which requires an optional DC charging port available as an option on SE trim level).
