Redesigned for the 2011 model year, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz R-Class continues in two trims: R350 and R350 Blue TEC. The R350 is powered by a new 3.5L direct injection engine mated to a more efficient seven-speed automatic transmission. The new powertrain produces more power with better fuel efficiency. The R350 Blue TEC features a clean diesel BlueTEC engine that is available across the U.S. in all 50 states. Also new year is are standard LED daytime running lights, minor enhancements to the interior and revisions to the rearview camera system (it now features directional lines to help guide the driver). Models have a genuine maple interior trim with aluminum accents, hill start assist, variable focus headlamps, SmartKey infrared remote control, heated rearview mirrors and night security illumination with Locator lighting. The COMAND system with navigation, Gracenote Media database, Zagat restaurant guide and voice control is standard.
