All-new in 2011, the 2012 Hyundai Equus continues in both Signature and Ultimate trim levels. While Hyundai offered an Apple iPad with interactive owner's manual as standard last year, the program is no longer currently offered. Equus features Hyundai's most powerful engine, a 5.0 liter Tau V8, which produces 429 horsepower. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Other changes this year include new satin chrome finish on the side window openings, and a power rear window sunshade as standard equipment on Equus Ultimate. The top-of-the-line Ultimate features other amenities such as ventilated/cooled reclining rear seats (including an integrated refrigerator compartment), power trunk, power rear head restraints, a passenger-side seat massage system, and rear entertainment system.
