The Audi R8 continues in 2012 with no major changes to the line-up, save for the availability of a limited production GT model. The GT's powertrain consist of a modified 5.2L V10 engine mated to an R tronic sequential manual transmission producing 560 horsepower (35 hp more than the 5.2L engine in the R8 Coupe and Convertible). The pairing produces a top track speed of 199 mph, and a 0-62 mph time of 3.6 seconds. The GT is constructed using Audi's ASF lightweight construction and combined with extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber body parts. This reduces the weight by approximately 180 pounds compared to an Audi R8 Coupe 5.2 quattro. Only 333 Audi R8 GT models will be produced worldwide, with only 90 of them heading for the U.S. market.
