The 2012 BMW 1-Series is available in two trims: 128i and 135i, in either coupe or convertible bodystyles. A 1-Series M coupe will be available later in the model year. The exterior features a new design of the front fascia that includes BMW's Air Curtain that counters turbulence near the wheel arches therefore reducing the aerodynamic resistance of the vehicle. Other exterior updates have been incorporated into the headlight and tail light clusters. The interior receives new switches and controls that have a more refined look and feel.
