For 2012, the Acura TL receives updates to the exterior as well as the interior. Changes to the exterior include a redesigned front and rear bumper, a revised grille, updated headlights and turn signals, a new fog light design a shorter front overhang, updated taillights and a thinner rear trunk edge trim. The interior receives instrument cluster changes, new surface finishes, an updated Bluetooth audio system, and a faster connection speed for the USB port. A new sequential SportShift six-speed automatic transmission improves efficiency but also adds a sport-minded double downshift (such as from fifth to third gear) and the Drive-by-Wire throttle system also creates a "blip" of the throttle to help rev match gear speeds with engine speed. The new Advance Package adds all-new ventilated front seats, larger wheels and new blind spot information (BSI) system.
