The 2011 Saab 9-3 is carried over from last year with no changes. Available in wagon (sportcombi), sedan, and convertible bodystyles in three trims; Aero, Turbo4, and 9-3X (available only in wagon). All 9-3 models are powered by a 210 horsepower turbocharged 2.0L engine for this year. The 9-3X rides 1.4 inches higher than the standard sportcombi wagon, and features Saab's XWD all-wheel-drive system. The XWD system is an intelligent, active system that continuously distributes torque between the front and rear axles as required for optimum stability and grip in all conditions. For 2012, the 9-3 is to be refreshed and restyled as the 9-3 Griffin range (replacing the current line-up), and will feature a new direct injection engine with more power and better fuel economy.
