The 2011 Toyota Prius is again offered in five trims--previously as I, II, III, IV, and V, they are now identified as One, Two, Three, Four, and Five. With over 800,000 Prius models sold in the United States since 2000, the Prius continues to offer mid-size comfort with hatchback style conveniences. The vehicle offers four distinct driving modes (Normal, Power, Eco and EV) and is powered by a 1.8L Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine that produces 98hp, along with its electric motor. Together the total output is 134 net horsepower, which is an improvement of 24hp over the previous generation. This year also sees the use of a new EGR system (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) that increases the overall efficiency of the engine.
