Redesigned last year, the 2011 Lexus RX is available in two trims: 350 and 450h in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The 350 is powered by a 3.5L V6 engine mated to a six-speed Multi-Mode automatic while the 450h receives a 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson-cycle engine paired with electric motors to produce 295 total system horsepower. A driver-selectable EV mode on the 450h can allow the vehicle to be driven short distances using only the electric motors. The RX features an active safety system (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management) that anticipates loss of vehicle control and will engage the ABS, stability control system, and traction control accordingly, as it attempts to make the corrections needed in order to maintain safe control of the vehicle.
