After much media attention, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt launches and is offered in a single sedan bodystyle. Chevrolet has added four additional states (TX, NY, NJ, and CT) to the retail launch, in addition to California, Michigan, and Washington, D.C. Volt qualifies for a $7500.00 tax credit and dealer deliveries will begin in late 2010 and extend to early 2011 for some areas. According to GM, the Volt is capable of a 340 mile driving rage, with electric only trips via the lithium-ion battery of up to 40 miles, and the gas engine kicking in that will extend the range another 300 miles (on a full-tank of gas). Chevrolet sees the combination as ideal for consumers who have concern about being stranded by a pure electric car. A portable 120-volt vehicle charging cord that can recharge the vehicle using a standard housing outlet comes with every Volt purchase.
