The new 2010 Volkswagen Golf is available in either two-door or four-door hatchback, and in either manual or automatic transmission. The base models are powered by a 170 horsepower 2.5L inline five-cylinder engine while the TDI receives a 2.0L four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing 140 horsepower and 236 ft-lb of torque. The TDI engine is available with a six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) that uses an automated dual-clutch system that instantly engages and disengages gears without the need for a driver-activated clutch pedal. Standard on all models is cruise control, air conditioning, electronic stability control, and remote controlled hatch release. Options include power moonroof, navigation system, an upgraded Dynaudio stereo with iPod connectivity, and Bluetooth connectivity.
