The Highlander returns for 2006 as a carryover model, again available in several trims: Base or Limited, 2WD or 4WD, with or without third row seating. Late this model year, a Sport trim also joined the Highlander line-up. The Highlander comes equipped with a either a 155-hp 2.4L I-4 engine or a 3.3L V6 that boasts 215 horsepower and 222 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment across the board includes a tire pressure monitoring system, the Star Safety System, a roof rack, power convenience features, and an AM/FM stereo with both a cassette and CD player. Limited models add larger aluminum alloy wheels, a color-keyed rear spoiler, an anti theft system, fog and daytime running lights, and a leather trimmed steering wheel and shift level.
