For 2006, Dodge pays homage to the muscle cars of the 60's by bringing back the Charger. The Charger is available in four models: SE, SXT, R/T, and SRT8. The SE and SXT models are equipped with a 250 horsepower high output 3.5L V6 engine. The R/T receives a more powerful 5.7L HEMI V8 engine producing 340 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. If the power of the R/T is not enough for you, the Charger is also available in a SRT8 model, with a 6.1L HEMI V8 engine that generates 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. All models are equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission. A Multiple Displacement System (MDS) on the HEMI engines deactivates four cylinders when full power is not needed. The result is improved fuel economy by up to 20 percent.
