Redesigned for 2005, the sixth generation (C6) Corvette continues in both coupe and convertible bodystyles. Though based on the C5 platform, about 85% of the vehicle is new. Substantial changes include an upgraded, better performing suspension, and a stronger engine that produces 400 hp and 400 lb-feet of torque. Other significant refinements include a more upscale interior and exterior styling changes such as fixed headlights. The convertible offers a power-operated top for the first time in over thirty years. Other options on the models include Z51 Performance Package, dual removable roof panels (coupe only), and Magnetic Selective Ride Control. The higher performance Z06 model is expected in another year.
