For 2003, Ford now offers an all-wheel drive Explorer in four familiar trim lines: XLS, XLT, Eddie Bauer, and Limited. The Explorer AWD is equipped with a 4.0L 210-hp V6 engine coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. A 4.6L 239-hp V8 engine is optional on all models except the XLS. All Explorers have received minor exterior trim changes this year, including three new color options. New 17-inch aluminum wheels are now standard on the Eddie Bauer and Limited models, with a tire pressure monitoring system available on the Limited. The Sport Group upgrade package is available on the both the XLS and XLT. Also, a rear seat, DVD-based entertainment system has been added to the options list on the XLT, NBX, Eddie Bauer, and Limited models.
