The 2003 Ford Explorer 2WD returns with several changes including the addition of the all-new NBX model, which features black exterior cladding, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and a Yakima roof rack as standard equipment. New 17-inch aluminum wheels are now standard on the Eddie Bauer and Limited models, as well. A rear seat, DVD-based entertainment system has been added to the options list on the XLT, NBX, Eddie Bauer, and Limited models. All 2WD Explorers are equipped with a 4.0L 210-hp V6 engine coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. A 4.6L 239-hp V8 engine remains optional on all models except the XLS. V8 powered Explorers may also be equipped with Ford's AdvancTrac Stability Control System at extra cost.
