The Cavalier Coupe continues this year with various equipment and color revisions. Two new models debut, the LS and the LS Sport (late availability). The three-speed automatic transmission has been discontinued in favor of an electronically controlled four-speed unit with traction control. Floormats are now standard on all models, as is a tilt steering wheel and stereo system with a CD player. All models include a standard four-wheel anti-lock braking system, air conditioning, and electric rear window defogger. Optional equipment includes a rear spoiler, a power sunroof, an automatic transmission, and an engine heater. New colors include Alpine Green, Forest Green, and Mayan Gold. The Z24 model has been discontinued mid-year.
