For 2001, the Malibu is available in two models: Base and LS. The Malibu includes a number of minor changes for this year. Some changes include new cloth seat materials, automatic light control which allows turning off headlights at night with the engine running, and analog door lock switches with delayed locking and automatic lock and unlock. Both models are standard equipped with battery rundown protection, air conditioning, a rear defroster, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes and daytime running lights. The LS model includes remote keyless entry, cruise control, power mirrors and windows, an AM/FM radio with cassette and CD, and a power driver seat. Aluminum wheels and a power sunroof (LS only) are available as options.
