The Express Cargo Van returns with significant changes. It is available in five models: 1500, 2500, 2500 Extended, 3500, and 3500 Extended. New changes for the 2001 model year include enhancements to the automatic transmission, body joints, and alternators. The four-speed automatic transmission now offers improved launch, acceleration, and fuel economy. A new Vortec 8.1L V-8 engine is also available (3500 models only). It features 340 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. Other changes include improvements to all Delco radios, and several new colors have also been added. Now available are Light Pewter Metallic and Forest Green Metallic. Safety features include power four-wheel anti-lock brakes and daytime running lights.
