The big news for the 1999 Corvette is the addition of the first hardtop model since 1967. New options for 1999 are twilight sentinel, heads up display, power telescoping and manual tilt steering wheel and active handling which was introduced in mid-1998. The coupe and convertible exterior and interior is a carry over from last year. One new color is available as an additional cost option, Magnetic Red Metallic which replaces Light Carmine Red. Sport Gold and Medium Purple have been dropped from the exterior color list. The custom sport magnesium wheel option returns for 1999 and is available on coupes and convertibles only. Standard interior features include power windows and door locks, bucket seats, and air conditioning.
