The 1998 Civic is available in two hatchback models and three coupe models, all produced in North America. The Civic's body makes use of noise and vibration-damping materials and energy absorbing crush zones, designed to absorb impacts of 35-mph. The optional automatic transmission includes Honda's Grade Logic Control, which selects and holds the appropriate gear when going uphill or downhill. The CX hatchback is the base model while the upgraded DX model carries an AM/FM radio, power steering and wheel covers. The Coupe HX and EX models are both equipped with power steering, windows and locks, tachometer and radio. The EX model also has air conditioning, reading lights, keyless remote entry system, moonroof and speed control.
